The beauty of Malta and Sicily  10 Day Private Tour


During the tour you will discover Baroque cities, Ancient greek's ruins, Megalithic temples, Ancient Churches and masterpieces of art..without forgetting the local lifestyle and outstanding views.

 You will know two nearby Islands, similar in some part , but full of contrast and different cultures. The tour starts in Malta, the small island  in the center of the Mediterranean, a crossroads of different cultures, and traditions through the centuries, enriched by its colonial past as part of the British Empire. After crossing the Malta Channel in only 90 minutes, you will start the tour of Sicily, the biggest island in the Mediterrenean. The Sicilian days will lead to discover several Unesco heritage Sites, charming ancient town, where where time seems to have stopped. The whole tour is enriched by different food and wine experiences, to learn about the specialties and culinary excellence of these two islands.

Itinerary


Day 1 - Malta,Arrival 

Welcome ! Arrival at Valletta airport.Private transfer to the Hotel .Check in. Time at leisure. Dinner on your own. Overnight 


Day 2 - Valletta,Mdina 

Breakfast in Hotel before departing for an excursion to explore the two Maltese capitals during the centuries.. pick up at the Hotel's lounge, accompanied by your private assistant/guide you start a tour of the capital city Valletta. 

During the tour you will visit the St. John's Cathedral ( entrance not included) within the masterpieces of Caravaggio, Barraca Gardens enjoying scenic views of Valletta harbour, the visit going on to the Grand Master's palace which houses the Maltese Parliament. Stop in a historic café in the center for tasting local pastries, the famous pastizzi and Qassata accompanied by the Maltese Kinnie drink.Free time for lunch and shopping. 

Transfer to the center of Malta  to visit the charming walled city of Mdina the ancient capitals of Malta under the Arab domination. The tour will include the stop at the St.Paul's Church ( entrance not included) and time for strolling in the narrow streets and enjoying panoramic views from the Mdina's Belvedere. Transfer back to your Hotel and Overnight.


Day 3 - Panoramic Tour Three Cities, Marsaxlokk,Blue Grotto 

The driver will be waiting you outside the Hotel to escort you by private car to the beautiful Cottonera Area,including the ancient cities of Senglea,Vittoriosa and Cospicua, the tour proceed to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk. 

The waterfront here is lined with traditional fishing boats known as luzzus and are brightly painted in red, blue and yellowadding vibrancy to this peaceful bay.There will be free time here to take a leisurely stroll or to browse the local market stalls. Lunch in a typical seafood restaurant. 

Your tour then continues to the western coast of Malta to visit Wied iz-Zurrieq. From here you can board a boat to visit the Blue Grotto, a deep sea cave where the waters are renowned for being so pure and beautiful.The Blue Grotto area is steep and precipitous, but in places there are gaps in the cliffs that slope down to sea level.One of these gaps (small fjord) is Wied izZurrieq, This narrow arm of the sea is an anchorage for boats in calm weather..

Many of the fishermen today also use their boats to take visitors to see the Deep sea cave.(The boat fee is therefore paid locally)The tour then takes us on a scenic journey heading to the Dingli Cliffs passing by the Maltese countryside.Your tour concludes with a scenic coach ride back to the Hotel through the beautiful costal road. Time at leisure. Dinner ( not included) Overnight.


Day 4 - Gozo Island 

Breakfast in Hotel. Pick up at the Hotel's hall,( 8:30 - 9:00 AM ) and transfer to Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal. Accompanied by a private English-speaking driverand local Guide  you will reach the Island of Gozo after a 20-minute ferry crossing. From the ship you will go along the small island of Comino, before reaching the Gozitan port of Mgarr.

In Gozo, we start a 6 hours tour including the Gozo's main attraction, namely Ta' Pinu Cathedral, Dwejra and Xlendi Bay, the Megalithic Temples of Ggigantija and the capital city Victoria showing the Citadelle from where enjoying outstanding views of the whole Island, The local market at St. Georges Square. Free time for lunch at the pictureque Xlendi Bay.  . Around 3:00 - 3.30 pm arrival to Malta and Transfer to the Hotel. Free time at leisure. Overnight.


Day 5 - Hagar Qim Megalithic Temples, Craft Village, Maltese Traditional Lunch

Breakfast in Hotel.Transfer to southern part of the Island where we will visit the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim & Mnejidra.These megalithic temples date back 5500 years ago and are the oldest free-standing stone structures in theworld, even older than the Stonehenge and the Pyramids. The megalithic complex of Hagar Qim is located a top a hill on thesouthern edge of the Island, on a ridge capped in soft limestone.. 500 metres from Hagar Qim stands the Mnajdra megalithic temple.Ħaġar Qim & Mnajidra are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed as part of‘The Megalithic Temples of Malta .

 Short drive to Ta' Qali Craft Village . Time at leisure to discover the the shops of local artisans, including blown glass before heading towards the nearby rural village of Dingli where you will experience the authentic Maltese cuisine in a traditional rural farm. Here you can visit the estate,a unique venue nestled in the Maltese countryside  and try hand picked vegetables and traditional meals like famous stew rabbit or bragjoli, the sundried tomatoes and butter beans, the gozo cheeselest or the maltese baked Ftira.

After the lunch return back to your Hotel.


Day 6 - Valletta,Pozzallo,Ragusa

Breakfast in Hotel, private transfer to Valletta Port. Boarding on the catamaran to reach the Sycilian port of Pozzallo,The trip takes 90 minute only. Arrive in Sicily and private transfer to your hotel, located in Ragusa.

Departure to a nearby agritourism where you will have a first try of Sicilian cuisine, after lunch go to Ragusa Ibla and start a guided tour of its historical centre cradle of Sicilian Baroque, with its Cathedral, situated in the beautiful square of the Dome and the “giardino Ibleo”.Ragusa Iblas today stated among the 44 Italian World Heritage Sites. 

Free time to stroll in the Ragusa city center or to enjoy a Sicilian glass of wine . Free dinner and Overnight in Ragusa.


Day 7 - Ragusa,Noto,Siracusa 

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Noto, the capital of Sicilian baroque, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along its main axis it will be possible to admire the palaces, convents and churches that characterize the historic center, among which the Cathedral,the Palazzo Nicolaci Villadorata and the Palazzo Ducezio stand out. 

After lunch in a local restaurant we will move to Syracuse, where we will start the the Visit of the Archaeological Park of Neapolis(Greek Theater, Roman Amphitheater, Latomie and "Orecchio di Dionisio") and of its historic center of Ortigia, where you will be enchanted by the splendid Piazza Duomo and its Baroque Cathedral which in the past was a Greek temple in Doric style. Then, along the delightful alleys of the center, you will admire the famous Arethusa spring, located opposite the Porto Grande. Return to the hotel, dinner at your own and overnight in Siracusa.


Day 8 - Siracusa,Mount Etna, Catania 

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, and one of the most visited and popular destination in Sicily. Famous and fascinating not only for the volcanic phenomena, but also for the breathtaking views and the different types of vegetation visible during the ascent. 

The main points,Crateri Silvestri, will be covered in absolute safety, the scene of past and recent eruptions, discovering the traditions or flavors and smells that arise from the slopes. 

At the end of the tour we will visit the Gambino Winery. The unique climatic and soil conditions determine the typicality of the Etna wine grapes. At maximum heights, temperature variations between day and night allow a phenol and aromatic maturation that is essential for the color and flavor of red grapes and the aroma of white wines. Lunch and wine tasting. Return to Catania. Check in. Dinner on your own. Overnight


Day 9 - Catania,Taormina 

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Taormina, 4 hours guided tour of the charming town  including the famous Greek Theatre,the Odeon a small Roman Theater, Palazzo Corvaja,Stop at Belvedere Square along the main street, Corso Umberto, to enjoy the wonderful view of the picturesque coast and the skyline dominated by powerful Mt Etna.

You will have some  free time for a nice walk among the picturesque narrow streets, go shopping and looking around the local handycraft (coral jewels, precious laces, ceramics, sweets and much more) Time to try some local street food or enjoy a panoramic aperitif with view onto Isola Bella. 

In the early afternoon return back to Catania. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant located in downtown and overnight


Day 10 - Catania,Departure 

Breakfast in Hotel. Private Tranfer to Catania Airport
